Arleta High School

I was born in January in Alaska along with my older sister. We moved from Alaska when I was 2 years old and moved to Salt Lake City, Utah which is where much of my family is from. I only lived a short time in Utah before moving to Bakersfield, CA where I spent most of my life. I attend south high school home of the rebels where I played soccer, volleyball, softball, and ran track. I graduated from south high and attend CSUBakersfield where I played college soccer all four years. I was also fortunate to play college soccer with my sister for one year. During school I worked at Macy’s Department store as a secret shopper and I continued working at Macy’s for another five years. After finishing school I went to work as an assistant estimator at a construction company. During this time I completed my teaching credential and began working in Los Angeles at San Fernando High School. While at San Fernando I coached one year of track and three years of girls soccer. I am now here at Arleta and am currently coaching girls volleyball and soon girls soccer. I have lived in LA now for about five years and am happy to be here. On my free time I play soccer at SCSC and still travel to Bakersfield to visit my family.

We spend many hours and days together at Thacher learning and absorbing information. We all seem to come away with a new respect for our colleagues and new ambitions to practice what we’ve learned. Once away from Thacher the hope is that we share what we have newly learned with other individuals who might also benefit from our week at Thacher.

While at Thacher there are many activities you can partake in which will keep you fit and also entertained. Mornings are filled with hikes throughout the beautiful campas and you may also find yourself interested in the morning yoga class or weight training classes, or like some sleep in and relax. I also have to show love to the kitchen because every day three times a day you can find all the accomidations that even a movie star would enjoy. There is no other place where you will gain so much for so little. I hope you all enjoyed your time here and hopefully you all will find your way back again next year.

Every year around July hundreds of participants gather at Thacher High School in preparation for many events and learning experiences.
